Air Pegasus 1996 reflects Nike's mid-1990s attempt to update the daily road trainer without abandoning its familiar role. The generation introduced visible Air, but the change did not resonate with runners, and Nike discontinued the line in 1998. Its place in the series is therefore less about a proven specification advantage than a pivotal experiment before the redesigned Pegasus returned in 2000.
